Dentures- Full and Partial Dentures

Permanent teeth are meant to be inside our mouths during our lifetime, hence the name. Unfortunately, the amount of people that come to our dental clinic in Davie looking for restorative treatments is only increasing.

Many adults lose one or many teeth during their lives. Whether it is due to dental trauma, severe tooth decay, a medical condition, or any other reasons, it is a reality, and our mission is to offer solutions to this problem.

Modern dentistry has many cosmetic procedures to restore people’s teeth. In this blog, we will discuss how dentures near you work and help you improve your quality of life.

Dentures in Davie

Whether you are fully edentulous or you are missing multiple dental pieces, dentures can restore your smile and allow you to do small daily chores, such as eating and speaking, more comfortably. Also, you will have a boost in your self-esteem, so be prepared to say goodbye to the confidence problems.

They are removable prosthetic devices that rest on your gums, covering your jawbone, becoming your new set of teeth.

The first thing to do is evaluating how many teeth you are missing and how damaged are the remaining ones. If you have healthy remaining teeth, a dentist near you will advise you to go for partial dentures.

If You Are Fully Edentulous

If you don't have any teeth, opting for a full denture is a great solution. Our dental professional will take impressions of your mouth to create customized dentures for replacing your upper or lower teeth, or both.

The whole process takes around four visits to the dental office, and while your full dentures are being created, you can ask for immediate dentures or temporary dentures; however, these are additional and not included in the full dentures price. We will explain them below.

Immediate Dentures

As we mentioned above, you will wear your immediate dentures after the dental professional removes any unhealthy remaining teeth.

After dental extractions, tissues need several weeks to heal; hence, if you don’t want to remain edentulous until it’s time for your impressions, temporary dentures are the best solution. They also look very natural.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures consist of artificial teeth and some attachments secured to your natural teeth for a proper fit.

The materials of partial dentures may vary. They can be made of acrylic only, metal components and acrylic, or thermoplastic resins.

All-On-4 Dentures

Implant-supported dentures go on top of dental implants.

A dental implant is a device that looks like a screw and fuses with your bone permanently. Your dentist will place four implants in your jawbone; afterward, he or she will place the dentures.

These dentures are very popular because they offer high retention and security. Since dental implants are permanent, All-On-4 dentures are not removable. On the downside, they are more expensive.

Oral Care With Dentures

If you are wearing full or complete dentures, you still need to brush your gums, tongue, and palate; if you are a partial dentures’ wearer, brush your remaining teeth with a fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day.

The key to a successful treatment is the proper care of the artificial device and the mouth. Dentures may last up to ten years, but it will depend on how well you take care of them.
